Where Should Your Dog Slumber?

By: jerrybrecken
Dogs, like humans, choose a particular place where they will sleep. Every dog owner must address this peculiarity as it will yield effects on his relationship with his pet.

Dogs have varying preferences for sleeping areas and some can be very discriminate with their choices. But, in places like homes, canines practically slumbers just anywhere they want to. Although there is no established rule on where dogs should sleep, it is good if you\'ll have some ideas.

Depending on the availability of the place and its convenience to your dog, these areas are ideal as your pet\'s sleeping haven:

Who says baskets are just for your groceries? These highly-versatile shopping and marketing companions are also ideal as sleeping nooks for canines. If your pooch doesn\'t have active jaws and fangs, baskets will be great sleeping areas. A soft pillow placed inside will be a good way to make your dog feel comfortable. But, if you have a chew-crazy pooch, it is better to use a plastic laundry basket instead.

You can also place your pets on nesting beds since they will cradle your dog when it lies on them. Some nesting beds let small pooches creep inside to enjoy a fitful sleep.

You may opt to give your pooch a blanket. Canines may find sleeping on this piece of wool enjoyable since a blanket is soft and can provide warmth. Wash the blanket regularly to keep it smelling clean and fresh.

Dogs also require a tidy and dry area to sleep on. Thus, it is not advisable to let your dog slumber on cold, damp floors. Hence, it is advised to let your pooch doze off on raised platforms to keep it out of harm\'s way.

Made of dog-friendly fabrics, bean bags are great for dogs to sleep on. Such dog beds are specially ideal if your dog is a wriggly one, as these beds help support your dog\'s movements.

Dog crates are ideal for pooches who want to feel secured. Crates are a good place to have your pooch sleep on as they also provide a private space for your pets.

Of course, where else can your dog feel more secured, relaxed, and loved than on its master\'s own bed? Dogs particularly love the scent of their masters and the idea of being close to them since they feel secured, taken care of, and loved. From time to time, it is good to have your prized canine pet spend a night dozing off beside you on your comfy bed, treating it just like a fine companion. But, never let you dog get used to the experience. Allowing such can make your dog too dependent on you, aside from the fact that it basically unhealthy to have your dog doze off with you regularly.
