Breaking my Dog of Digging

By: Jeff Austin,

There are a lot of reasons a dog will dig holes, it may be instinct, during the winter the wolf will eat all of the food that he kills, this is because he is unsure of the next time he will eat.

During the summer, he will dig a hole and bury part of the kill and return later to finish it off, this is a lot like your dog burying a bone in the backyard. A dog that is outside in the summer may dig a hole to get out of the heat, in the winter he may dig a hole to get out of the cold.

They may also dig because they don't get enough exercise; it is a great way to relieve that extra energy. (Have you ever watched how much energy a dog puts out when he digs a hole?)

This is usually because the owner doesn't realize how much energy a dog has, and doesnt give him the amount of exercise he needs. Yelling and screaming only reinforces the activity with negative attention, any attention is better than no attention, just ask your dog.

When you give negative support, you only make the problem worse; more holes are a real problem.

If you are one of the lucky few and your dog digs in front of you, just telling him no, may solve the problem.

However, most holes are not dug in our presence, especially if the dog digs from boredom, because when you are there, he isn't bored.

One way of stopping this habit is to put a wooden stake in the center of the hole he has dug, tie him to the stake with his lease and leave him there for about 20 minutes.

It will take a few more holes, but after you have several holes with stakes in the middle, he will relate the stake to the hole and being tied to the stake and the hole digging will stop.

Discover Chocolate Labrador Dog - Great For Children

By : Paul zayer
Many families with children think about getting pets, but when they try to figure out which type of pet would be safe and fun for children in play, they may keep putting the idea on hold. This true story might help you decide which pet to get.

In my childhood, Ben, the chocolate Labrador was the pet beloved by all in my area. Ben had a sweet nature, really loved children and provided hours of fun and entertainment with his love of water, usually in the form of sprinklers and a bunch of kids. Ben came from a long line of water loving dogs, rejoicing in a lake where he could practice his swimming and diving aptitude. Ben's ancestry bred an instinct of compassion and protectiveness towards people. Ben was so smart and sensitive.

We saw this blind lady who lived down the street and tried to make her way to the mailbox with her cane and Ben always seemed to know when she was going. In all his chocolate Labrador beauty, he would stay by her side, friendly and tail fluffy, guiding her along her way. Ben was the angel of chocolate Labradors. Even the color of his coat was comforting and lovable.

You may not know that the Labrador is the most popular family pet in the United States. They have gentle character, can be trained easily, of an obedient personality, affectionate and sociable, with an intelligent and companionable character. The Labradors are quick to learn and respond enthusiastically to praise for their good actions. With all these wonderful characteristics and maybe because of my own memories, the chocolate Labrador is so especially appealing. They are not necessarily guard dogs but watchdogs. When a stranger approaches, they will let you know, but these are not attack dogs.

In the heart for the chocolate Labrador, there is that soft spot in the heart, that is always there. In the world of dog shows, it's still a matter of controversy as to the color of the chocolate Labrador. To attain "show" quality, the chocolate Labrador must be pure in the chocolate coloring, without tan spots or brindling, of the pure chocolate Labrador shade. It seems a bit silly to be literally "splitting hairs" in the assessment of a good family pet.
If you're debating which animal might make a good companion for your family, look in to the Labrador. Who knows that you might find another Ben, the chocolate Labrador who makes the ideal addition to your family?

Vegetarian Diet Dog Food - What You Should Know

By : Jessica N
Maybe you decided to adopt a cute little puppy, and now he's a welcome addition to the family. But puppies have to eat, and it's up to you to decide what sort of diet dog food he'll be getting.

If you're a vegetarian, you are probably thinking seriously about giving your new family member vegetarian diet dog food.

But the question needs to be asked: Can your dog be healthy and a vegetarian as well?

We all know that dogs are carnivorous. It's in their nature. Wild dogs kill and eat animals all the time.

At the same time, dogs in the wild also supplement their diet with some grains and vegetables. But meat is always a part of their diet. But just by the shape and set of their teeth, you can tell that dogs are omnivores.

If you take a close look, you will see the presence of tearing and grinding surfaces. This is what indicates that they are omnivores. So therefore, they eat plants and meat.

If you are determined to have your dog be on a vegetarian diet dog food plan, don't lose hope. It can be done.

The diet needs to give your dog the best nutrition he needs to not only survive, but grow and thrive. The secret to a healthy coat, healthy skin, and lots of energy and vitality lies in the consumption of protein.

It is also extremely important that your dog get essential amino acids. Your dog has to get it from his food, because his body is incapable of producing 10 essential amino acids.

How do you provide them to your dog? For the Omega 6 fatty acids, try activated flaxseed oil. As for Omega 3 fatty acids, they can be found in salmon or other cold water fish oil.

Just as you would with any diet choice, you will want to do plenty of research before putting your dog on a vegetarian diet. Don't forget to visit and consult with your vet.

However, if you have more than one dog, then the policy providers usually reduce the interest rate after the first policy. The dog health insurance deductibles vary and the minimum deductible amount could be about $100.

The advantage attached to such policies is that you can purchase policies based on your dog’s pre-existing medical conditions also. However, the age of the dog can severely affect the insurance coverage. Generally, such health plans begin coverage when the pet is 6 to 8 months old, but usually many insurers offer services when the dog is much younger. But you need to know how form, the habit and dog measure after adult. One thing important from choosing Purebred dog or race dog is a form & in character that can be estimated.

We can know, pup which we would select or choose will grow up to become like what, either from the angle of measure, personality, condition of its dog as well as even extra habits required by some certain pedigrees. Like for example grooming, food and others.
