If your dog is your best friend, you don't want him to sleep on the cold, hard floor. Chances are, however, that you probably don't want him to stretch out on your beautiful suede sofa, your leather easy chair, or your great-grandmother's antique divan. The solution? One of the many exceptional designer dog beds that are available.
These days, dog lovers can find dog beds at nearly any pet store, online or offline. However, if you want to find a high-class designer dog bed, you may need to head to an exclusive online dog store or a brick-and-mortar pet boutique.
Designer gear for dogs has grown into much more of specialty over the last several years. Ever since celebrities began bringing their tiny little dogs with them wherever they went in those charming dog carriers, buying top quality accessories for pets has become a widespread phenomenon. People purchase dog carriers, dog clothing, and designer leashes and collars. And, of course, people purchase designer dog beds.
In fact, the designer dog bed industry has exploded into its own specialty—there are some websites and stores that sell nothing but different types of beds for pampered pets. The variety available is rather unbelievable!
A regular, everyday dog bed—one that is shaped like a pillow—can generally be purchased for less than $50. Depending upon the size needed (which, of course, depends upon the size of the dog) the price will vary. Add a designer's name to this very same bed, however, and the price will double—at least.
That is not the only type of designer dog bed. These beds come in just about any shape, size, and style imaginable—and some that pet owners probably couldn't imagine.
Designer dog beds can be in a "donut" shape. These beds have a solid bottom, albeit one that is extremely cushiony. They offer a donut ring that is as cozy as your duvet. Pets lucky enough to sleep in these beds can relax in the center of the bed and rest their weary heads on the ring of the donut.
There are also many styles of designer dog beds that are shaped like miniature sofas. Dog owners can find styles that match the décor of their homes. Various fabrics, patterns, and styles of sofas are available from which owners can choose.
Pampered pets can also sleep in designer dog beds that look exactly like little beds. There are dog beds that have headboards and footboards or ones without. These are ideal to put in a bedroom for the dogs that like to sleep in the room with their owners.
Specialty cushions are also available for several types of designer dog beds. For dogs who are older or arthritic, owners can purchase heated dog beds that heat up whenever the dog lays down. Or, dogs in hot climates can be treated to beds that contain cooling packs.
People who want to get the very best for their best friends have loads of options—it may be difficult to choose!

Dog Training Techniques And Tips to Control Your Dogs Behavior
By : Kenneth Elliott
Getting a new pet dog and the joy of having a new companion around comes with a lot of responsibilities. Of course you must feed your new pet, take care of its health with regular visits to the vet, groom him, and give it lots of love and attention. Many animal lovers do not think any further than that, but dog training is also a very important part of owning dogs. Dog training ensures a healthier and more fulfilling life for you and your pet.
Behavior Problems
Proper discipline can help prevent dog behavior problems later in your pets’ life. And proper behavior starts with first house breaking your dog. This is usually the most common form of dog training that most owners take on when first purchasing a dog, but a caring owner will often go a lot further than the basics. Your pet's obedience will lead to a stronger bond between you, as well as meaning less frustration and annoyance. Your pets start learning and shaping behaviors early in life, so that is the best time to start with dog training basics.
Obedience Training
There are many aspects to dog obedience training, and not everyone looks to get the same experience out of it. Some people will be content with house breaking, leash training, and basic obedience to simple command. Many dog owners do not realize that they can change or prevent problem behaviors such as barking, whining, digging, growling, chewing, and aggression. Yet all these behaviors can be addressed with proper teaching. Decide what tutelage is most important for you and your pet, and make sure you are willing to invest the time and energy into a program that will yield the desired results.
Puppy Training
You can never start too early with puppy training. Many people hold the mistaken belief that puppies under six months are too young to train, but this is simply not so. You can start shaping their behavior the moment you acquire them if it is done in the proper manner. If you do some research, it is easy to find plenty of dog training books, websites about pet training, and obedience training tutorials. Some people may even consider hiring a professional instructor. Ask your veterinarian or friends if they know of any reputable trainers in the area, and shop around for the person who is right for you.
Professional Trainers
If you decide to use a professional trainer, be sure you keep the breed of your dog in mind when shopping around. Some breeds may be harder to train than others, so some trainers may prefer not to work with them. Alternatively, some trainers may specialize in certain breeds, so they will have more success with your pet than another trainer may have. Even if you are teaching your pet yourself, there are books and information geared toward certain breeds. Do not get discouraged if you are told your breed is hard to train, just look for proven methods to use. The hardest work always yields the greatest rewards.
Owning a pet is a big responsibility, but the right attitude can make it fun and rewarding. Do not think of your canine companion as an object for your amusement, but as a living creature that can become a treasured friend. Dogs are motivated by their owner's pleasure, so if you work together, the dog training process will be an important step in your relationship. You will learn to trust one another, which will allow you to enjoy the pleasure of each other's company. Teach your dog what you want and expect from him, and he will give you that and more in return.

How Often Do You Need to Walk a Dog?
So, how often do you need to walk a dog? The answer to that question is not really as concrete as you may think. First of all, the answer fluctuates from pet owner to pet owner, and the most responsible pet owners have some answers in regard to how often you need to walk a dog, and that answer depends upon what kind of pet/dog that you own. Below are some sites that give answers on how often to walk certain types of dogs. In my search to find the answer, this is what I came up with, that there is no set amount of time that you should walk your dog, that it depends upon what breed of dog that you own, and that it can fluctuate. Most of us know that a small dog probably doesn't need to be walked nearly as far a distance as a larger dog. Depending upon leg length and whether the dog is a housebound or outside breed may be another factor to consider.
The sites that can give you some answers as to the length of time to walk certain breeds are located at the following URLs: http://ph.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070115100849AAIXXHc and at http://www.royalgenes.biz/rec.pets.dogs.behavior/thread267.html.
