Dog breeders in India should make a bigger effort in letting people know about the different breeds and the different types of dogs in India. As well as that, they should inform people about what it is like to work with dogs and how people should train their dogs. Owners should never hit their own dogs; may it be because they want to make their dogs more aggressive or just to teach them “a lesson”, they should never do that. More people who hit dogs do it because they want to have attack dogs; but that does not happen like that.
One should have in mind there are 2 types of dogs in India, just like everywhere else: dogs that are bred for working and dogs that are bred for pets. Rottweilers and pit bulls are very good examples of what is known as guard dogs – but only if they are trained properly from a young age; if not they can be aggressive and just attack anything that moves. Chihuahuas and Cocker Spaniels, on the other hand, are mostly bred for pets. But the only people who can change that are the dog breeders in India – it is entirely up to them how the dogs are raised.
When it comes to safety, dog breeders in India may fear dogs that have a reputation of attacking people. However, it is extremely uncommon for a dog to attack its owner. One of the things that make dogs such good companions to man is that they love their people no matter what. Praise gets better results than hitting them, but there are times when you need the more immediate result and do need to drive a scolding home with a little slap -- such as when you find your 90 lb dog with the next door neighbor's Chihuahua in his mouth, or when he grabs the steak off your dinner plate.
Still, one should know there is a difference between watch dogs, guard dogs, and attack dogs – although dogs in India are often called “attack dogs”. Pit bulls and Rottweilers do not make good guard dogs; it is simply not in their blood. Pit bulls do make good attack dogs and require very little training for that purpose. Rottweilers need a little more work for that task, but they were originally Roman war dogs, so they take to the job as well. They did guard the money for Rottweil butchers as they traveled; the butchers put the money around the dogs’ necks and no one tried to take it.
A German shepherd is a perfect example of a guard dog. They have been bred to the task for so long that a good example will take up the job with little or no training. They guard their owner’s property and flock, including house and family. Known to herd playing children away from snakes they are one of the best choices when it comes to dogs in India. They do not attack human intruders -- they corner and hold an inside intruder, or run an outside intruder off. If the dog sees the intruder as a threat to his people, that is when he will go for blood -- nobody messes with a shepherd's flock.
Article Source: http://www.article-outlet.com/About the Author A lot of people decide to get dogs in India in order to have them trained for guarding or even attacking, and this often leads to unwanted accidents. But dog breeders in India should take their time and inform people about all the aspects of owning and training dogs.

What does it take to breed dogs in India?

If you have thought of breeding dogs in India but you do not know how to do it you should probably talk to people who have been breeding dogs for years. Loyal breeders are likely to tell you that dogs must have something special to offer to the breed – as there are dog breeders in India whose dogs never bred although they were Champions.
If you have thought of breeding dogs in India but you do not know how to do it you should probably talk to people who have been breeding dogs for years. Loyal breeders are likely to tell you that dogs must have something special to offer to the breed – as there are dog breeders in India whose dogs never bred although they were Champions.
Take for example a breeder who has 4 dogs out of which 3 are too young to consider breeding and one who has been bred. Of the too young crew one looks promising but needs all his credentials and 2 are going through the puppy gawky phase and need to develop into what is thought they will before the breeder even starts thinking about breeding... and then, of course, they have to have all the credentials.
40 years ago the best dog breeders had huge kennels of dogs, hired kennel help and were not frowned on for producing puppies. Puppy mills have flourished because people no longer have the time or the money to devote to having such large kennels and still do it right. There are fewer people willing to mentor who have the credentials they should have, too many instant experts who believe they know everything after 5 years and too many backyard breeders who just don't care and don't see the harm in producing "just pets".
So how can you be a good dog breeder in India and only produce a few litters in your own lifetime? For that you pair up with people who have the same goals, and guidelines, work with a mentor, have a vision for what you are looking to accomplish, adhere to the principles of breeding well (good stock, excellent pedigree that produces its excellence, stay honest, get the health certificates, prove the dog's worthiness in the show ring and in the work it was bred to do, be unrelenting in only breeding outstanding temperament). All of the above take time, the ability to listen well and work well with others and NOT to be an instant expert.
Of course, when it comes to numbers, it also depends largely on breed, and the space, money, and time you have to keep the dogs happy and healthy. Two or twenty, the important thing is that they do the genetic testing, agree to accept their own bred dogs back at any time for any reason, and breed to improve the breed according to a reputable registry's breed standard. When it comes to breeding dogs in India, numbers mean little in relation to quality.
The best dog breeders in India have their dogs shown regularly and also win titles regularly. In order to have good results, they improve the bloodline each litter by picking the best, have them in shows and win more titles; often they would breed only them to keep improving the bloodlines further, without having profit in mind. However, the large number of dogs in India is partly due to people who breed them for money and breeders who sell them to cover testing.
Article Source: http://www.article-outlet.com/About the Author In recent years there has been a rise in the number of people who have dogs in India. But as there are a lot of stray dogs out there, committed dog breeders in India are trying to breed exclusively the best dogs they have.

What is the deal with guard dogs?

As there are a lot of Indian dogs, breeders have started the competition; but this time it is not about the best in show, but who makes the top 10 guard dogs. As there are a lot of Indian dogs, breeders have started the competition; but this time it is not about the best in show, but who makes the top 10 guard dogs. It is not easy, as different breeders have different criteria; as well as that owners have their opinions when it comes to what they want in a dog.
The best guard dog is not a specific dog, but any dog that is well trained and has good manners and acts calmly around the family. To get these good manners, owners should start using professional training techniques at the age of 2 or 3 months when the puppy's personality is forming. German Shepherds and Rottweilers make good home guards partly because people expect them to be protective. Either breed is very loving with family when raised and trained with them starting at 8 weeks. Nothing is automatic and dogs don't do a good job of training themselves. This is why these 2 dogs will always be part of the top 10 guard dogs. But all dogs, including Indian dogs can make it to that list.
Almost any dog will bark and if you are a novice a true guard breed would probably be too dominating for you. Danes are good guards but usually mellow, so they could be a good choice for someone who has never had guard dogs. So are Rottweilers but they need a firm hand and knowledgeable owner or they will take over. Any breed has wild and mellow dogs. If the parents are mellow the pups will likely be so too. Black dogs are scarier so a black Labrador may fit your bill. And whether you choose any of the above or Indian dogs, you should know that all dogs need exercise to a greater or lesser degree.
When selecting a puppy for making to the top 10 guard dogs list you need to choose the pup that is most dominate. There are breeds that are known for their potential to bite but don't get it unless you are prepared to insure your dominance over the pup. This does not mean for you to totally dominate the dog to where he sub misses totally, but to where the dog knows that you are alpha and he is second in command after you. Indian dogs such as the Himalayan mastiff or the Indian bull mastiff are known to be dominant, so watch out!
If you want your dog’s behavior to place it in the top 10 guard dogs it would be best to take it to a professional school. That way, you won't be training the dog to be vicious; there are enough of those types around. You want your dog to be alert to strangers and not attack anyone, unless of course, they are breaking in or attacking you. You could also expose him to lots of new people and situations in order to make it more confident. This way he'll be able to tell a threat from a situation that is not serious. Some breeds are naturally tougher, while others will never be aggressive no matter what you do. If you teach your dog to bite, you will have a huge liability problem - you and your family can be sued or even go to jail if your dog injures someone. Your homeowner's insurance policy may even refuse to cover you if you have a dangerous dog.
Article Source: http://www.article-outlet.com/About the Author A lot of people have purchased Indian dogs with the intention of training them to be guard dogs. Although many Indian breeds are not known for being in the top 10 guard dogs they can still be trained to faithfully watch your properties and assets.

Your dog will stop barking excessively if proper fence training takes place
Submitted by Clint.
How many times did you wish for your neighbors or acquaintances not to look annoyed at you just because your dog would not stop barking?
How many times did you wish for your neighbors or acquaintances not to look annoyed at you just because your dog would not stop barking? Certainly, you have nothing against such natural dog behavior, yet sometimes it can get on your nerves as well, particularly if your dog appears to bark at any time, out of no clear reason. Undoubtedly, you need a manner of containing such excessive barking. You can do this with the suitable pet containment system. However, for dogs to learn how to stick to the boundaries of an electric dog fence, they need training.
It will take about a month to train a dog properly. In fact, your efforts to make your dog stop barking excessively will not require too much of your time. On the contrary, you will need two brief sessions per day, each session of about 15 minutes. For the most part of teaching your dog to stay within the boundaries of the electric dog fence, you will only pay attention to what the pet is doing. If you try to make the dog training minutes concise and amusing, they will reach their result faster. Keep in mind that different dogs learn at different rates. If your dog does not seem to get the message instantly, do not lose your patience or do not start worrying: it will learn at its tempo.
Primarily, you have to accustom your dog to the limitations of the electric dog fence. At this phase in the dog training process, you must train your pet that, each time it listens to the tone, it must back off calmly from the limits. For this, you need to place your dog on a leash and go to the boundary. Once your dog has reached the signal field, you need to turn and return hurriedly into the yard. You will see that your dog will go after you.
Each time that your dog goes after you, retaining its barks, you need to offer it some signal of positive appreciation. In the case where the dog does not go after you, the phase needs repeating. You will go on with this for the following three or four days. You will see that, in the case of success with this electric dog fencing stage, the dog will walk away from the boundary in the absence of your prompting it to do so, once it has perceived the tone.
Get an assistant for the second stage of the electric dog fence training. The three of you (you, the dog and the assistant) need to go in the direction of the boundary. Remember to leash your dog. Your assistant will go on the way to the boundary and will not stop. Do not forget to give a sign of appreciation to your dog each time that it does not cross the boundary. You will then need to place various diversions on the same route, so that the dog grows used to each of them (a neighbor, a biker crossing by, even a bike or a ball, situated outside the fence).
Once you have trained it with a leash on, the time comes to take off the leash. You have to pay close attention to how the dog behaves after you have removed the leash. Does it still have problems when the situation calls for it to stop barking and not cross the fence? If the answer to this question is affirmative, your close supervision is mandatory. Do not forget that, each time that your dog manages to stop barking and stop crossing the fence, you have to praise it. In time, you will be able to direct your attention to something else in the yard, apart from the dog, as it will grow used with the requirements of the training process.
Article Source: http://www.article-outlet.com/About the Author With an electric dog fence, you will have a trained dog. In this manner, you have no reason to be anxious about it crossing the borders or not being able to stop barking excessively. You only have to keep in mind that positive reinforcement is one of the keys to success for the duration of the training process.

Cooling Dog Beds Can Help Your Pet During Summer Months
Where do you live? Don’t answer that here but think about it when it comes to your pet. Is it always hot and steamy when you go outside? Does your pet suffer from some sort of skin disease or bad joints or hips? If you answered yes to this or live somewhere that the temperature doesn’t drop below 100 degrees then it might be time to invest in a cooling pet bed. These little drops of golden ingenuity can help your lovable pets with all these situations and more. They can cool him down on hot and humid nights as well as cool any kind of skin aliments that he may be suffering with. They are also proven to bring relief to aching joints and hips as your best friend ages.
Just the same way heated pet beds have be proven to bring relief to pets that live in cold environments the same principal applies to pets that live in humid and consistently hot environments. Heated pet beds also bring relief to pets that suffer from joint aches cause by arthritis and hip aches as well. Cooling pet beds do the same but also add the effect of cooling the skin that may be suffering from inflammation or any sort of burning sensations. As his best friend it is up to you to help him in this time of need and offer him some kind of support in order to bring him relief.
A pet bed also adds the task for training your pet to sleep in his own bed instead of someone else’s. It is a great way to train them to stay where you need them to. But before you go out and buy one you need to make sure you get the correct size and shape in order to accommodate your pal. Observe his sleeping habits and choice a shape according to that. If he sleeps sprawled out then choice something circular shaped or square shaped. If he sleeps in a ball and/or a tight formation you might want to consider a donut shape. Also make sure that these are offered in the cooling variant in order to accommodate your needs. Also make sure you get him the right size. The easiest way to do this is to measure him from nose to tail and from head to paw. This will offer you an accurate measurement to go out with and to make sure your best friend fits perfectly in his new bed.
Cooling beds don’t have to be expensive after all but they don’t run cheap either. It all depends on your situation and what it is you need them to accomplish. Your pet will be extremely happy with it as will you.

The Perfect Dog Beds For Small Dogs
You have a tinny tiny dog! He runs around all day and at the end of the day he loves to crash on your bed. If this has happened to you then I think it is time you invested in a roomy cushioned dog bed. Your dog resting on his back on your bed is a tell tale sign that he loves a lot of room and loves a soft space to rest on.
Before you go rushing out to the store to buy your pal his very own bed there are some preparations that need to be done before its all said and done. First things first you need to measure your pet to make sure you don’t buy something too big or too small. To measure, first measure from the tip of his nose to the tip of his tail and then from the top of his head to the bottom of his feet. This will give you a runabout measurement to work with. If you plan on getting something that has cushions or padding then it is my suggestion that you add about 12 inches to this measurement to make sure your pet has enough space.
Next you need to do a little detective work and see where your pet sleeps the most and in what position. If your pet likes to sleep snugly then you might want to invest in a donut shaped bed. If he likes to spread out and sleep with a lot of room then a circular or squared shaped bed is right for him. Most small dogs love to sleep in a tight formation in order to keep themselves warm and comfortable. When choosing your bed, make sure you get something appropriate to his age and needs as well. If your dog has joint pains then it would be a good idea to get a bed that isn’t too close to the floor so that he doesn’t have to bend too much to lie down. It is also especially difficult to pick himself up when getting out of bed. This is why if you have a dog with joint pains you should get him a bed that is higher off the ground.
Lastly when you have gone out and bought your bed you need to make sure you put it in the most appropriate spot. The answer here should have been discovered when you did your detective work on where you pet sleeps. By knowing where he sleeps and placing the bed at that specific location you increase your chances of your pet actually sleeping in the bed. This is especially true if you have an older dog that isn’t trained to sleep in the actual bed and has slept everywhere else.
A dog bed is an excellent investment not only for you but especially for the health and happiness of your pet.

Dog Digestion And Flatulence Problems
Quality Food And Healthy Dog Digestion...
When a dog is receiving the necessary nutrients, vitamins and dog enzymes that he needs; not only will his skin be flake free, but his coat will shine. His digestive system will function the way it was intended to and flatulance will be occasional.
A quality all natural dog food canned or dry, will deliver superior results to your dog's general health. If you are not feeding your dog a "premium" dog food then chances are he is lacking in what he needs to thrive as a dog. Don't be sold by fancy packaging, what is actually in the bag is what counts.
Meat should be the first ingredient whether it is beef, lamb, chicken, turkey or fish. Completely avoid dog foods that say meat byproducts. Meat byproducts could be just about anything including things that you would probably rather not know about. That is why it is very important to look for the primary ingredient to say the name of the meat.
In the past decade many private dog food companies have made a tremendous difference in providing dogs with quality foods. Consumers are beginning to realize that this is money well spent. If your dog is not receiving what his body needs, his coat will be dull and his skin will be flaky. He will have gas and flatulence problems daily.
Unfortunately, your dog gets what you pay for when it comes to his food and health. You can easily improve your dog's digestion problems with a high quality food. Dog enzymes are also a very effective way to provide your dog with the necessary nutrients his body needs and thrives upon.
It is best to start with his food and if he still has gas or flatulence problems, dog enzymes will most likely do the trick.

Become Informed About Dog Training Collars Before You Purchase One
Training your dog to be obedient can be accomplished with the help of a good dog training collar. There are many different type of dog training collars on the market today. Before you buy one, you owe it to your dog to do research and decide which is the best and safest dog training collar for him. Read on to uncover more information about dog training collars.
The first thing you need to do before you purchase a dog training collar is measure your dog's neck. It is critical that you choose the correct collar size for your dog's safety. A collar that is too tight poses a strangulation risk and won't be effective because the dog is unable to feel you getting a tighter grip. A collar that is too loose can slip over the dog's head. You should measure the diameter of your dog's neck with a tape measure and look for a collar that is two to three inches larger.
One type of dog training collar is the slip chain collar. This is simply a chain the fits over your dog's head. When you want your dog to obey your command, give the leash a gentle jerk to tighten the slip chain. This will get your dog's attention and help him to learn what he is supposed to do.
Another type of dog training collar is the prong collar. These collars are similar to the slip chain except they have metal prongs that will dig into the dog's skin when tightened. These must be used very carefully and are really only necessary for bigger dogs or dogs that may be exhibiting a behavior problem.
There is an abundance of dog training collars on the marker that will deliver a shock when the dog displays a behavior that you don't want him to do. These shocks are not harmful to the dog and will do no permanent damage. Shock collars have long been the subject of debate from animal rights groups. Using a shock collar on your dog is a personal decision that only you can make.
Other types of dog training collars include those that emit a certain odor that dogs do not like. Some collars will emit a spry into the dog's face. These type of collars do not cause harm to the dog, but they do work well as the dog will learn what type of behavior not to engage in to avoid getting sprayed.
So there you have a primer on the different types of dog collars on the market today. It is best to research each one thoroughly. You may even want to talk to a professional dog trainer to get some tips on how to safely and effective use your dog training collar.

Dogs Bladder Stones - The Things You Should Know

Your dog developing bladder stones is no joke. Dog owners must be aware of the fact that the occurrence of bladder stone in dogs is something that should never be ignored.
Your dog developing bladder stones is no joke. Some bladder stones get severe that dogs die from it. The intention is never to alarm dog owners. However, dog owners must be aware of the fact that the occurrence of bladder stone in dogs is something that should never be ignored.
Bladder stone develops if excess minerals and other waste products crystallize in the bladder area. This disease has different symptoms. The most common of which is the intense pain that dogs experience when urinating.
You'll know if your dog suffers from this disease if it wants to urinate frequently. Dogs with bladder stone problems also have other observable abnormalities when they urinate. For starters, there's blood in their urine. Your dog may also excrete smaller amounts of urine than usual. Other than those, dogs may also suffer from general weakness and loss of appetite.
phy, and ultrasound. These medical procedures are necessary so that the vet would be able to assIf you think that your dog is suffering from bladder stones, take it to the veterinarian right away. The vet would perform any of these tests: urinalysis, urine culture, sensitivity tests, radiograess the extent of your pet's illness.
After the cause and the status of the disease were determined, the vet would be ready to prescribe the right course of treatment. The treatment of bladder stones depends upon the stone's chemical composition. Calcium oxalate and struvite stones are the most common ones. However, the dogs suffering from calcium oxalate and struvite stones require medications that are different from those with urate, calcium phosphate, or silicate stones.
The medicines for dogs with bladder stones consist of antibiotics and stone-dissolving chemicals. The observance of proper diet is also important. The vet would provide detailed instructions to pet owners on what to feed, how to feed, and when to feed their pets.
There are also home remedies for bladder stones in dogs. Such home remedies are the perfect complements for the medicines prescribed by your veterinarian. They are barberry root, sarsaparilla, goldenseal, and aconite, among many others. When taken along with the medicines given by the vet, faster and more effective healing is expected.
If not treated right away, bladder stones may develop into other much severe complications. The complications include bladder cancer, tumors, and even death. There are many cases wherein dogs with bladder problems are put to sleep because even surgery can't help them anymore.
Dogs are considered a part of the family. As such, they deserve the best medical attention as anyone else. Bladder stone is one of the most common diseases suffered by dogs. Early diagnosis of the disease is very important. Regular visits to the vet is going to help a lot in maintaining the perfect health of your pet and keep them away from serious diseases.

Dealing with UTI In Dogs - Urinary Tract Infections in Dogs
Submitted by Jay
Urinary tract infection is the most common disease acquired by dogs. This is because most dogs don't have the liberty to just go out and heed the call of nature whenever they wish.
Urinary tract infection is the most common disease acquired by dogs. This is because most dogs don't have the liberty to just go out and heed the call of nature whenever they wish. Most dogs need to adhere to the schedule given to them by their masters. And because they can't always go when they need to go, they have no choice but to hold it in. That's the main reason why dogs develop UTI.
You'll know if your dog has UTI if it winces in pain every time it pees. Another telltale sign is the presence of blood in their urine as well. Other physical signs of UTI in dogs would be weight loss, anorexia, vomiting, and abdominal pains.
Your dog needs to receive immediate treatment from UTI the moment you suspect your pet had acquired it or when your veterinarian had positively diagnosed it. If left ignored, UTI can bring about crippling pain and discomfort to your dog. UTI can also develop into a much severe disease like cancer and tumors if not treated properly.
To provide relief from UTI in dogs, veterinarians would normally prescribe a certain course of treatment. If the disease is not so severe, a change in your dog's diet should be sufficient, along with some antibiotics. Otherwise, surgery might be necessary. Veterinarians would conduct several diagnostic tests on your dog to determine the extent of the disease. X-ray and ultrasound are the most common methods employed. Veterinarians need to check if your dog would benefit from oral medications or if it needs a more obtrusive mode of treatment.
But more than treating the disease, prevention is still the best way to go. Prevent UTI by giving your dogs the right type of food. Never give your dog human food, especially those with high salt content. Salty foods and foods with too much preservatives are not going to help your pet at all. Give them only all-natural dog meals and pet foods that are especially formulated to treat UTI. There are also many home remedies for UTI that you can give your pets. Good examples are citrus juices, distilled water, and fresh meals.
Dog owners are advised to strictly follow the instructions of their doctors in order to treat their pets. This might mean regular visits to the clinic. It could cost you a little but then again, it would definitely keep your pet away from the complications of UTI. The most common of which are renal failure, high fever, and a weakened immune system.
Ensure your dog's health all the time. Quality time spent with your best friend is essential because only then you can fully observe the behavior and temperament of your pets. And the moment the signs of UTI arise, you will definitely know how to deal with it.

Dog Mange - Your Dog's Worst Enemy
Submitted by Jay
If you still don't know what worse skin disease can hit your dog, try to look up the one called mange in every pet book you know. Mange is a type of a skin disease that can be highly contagious both for you and your other pets.
If you still don't know what worse skin disease can hit your dog, try to look up the one called mange in every pet book you know. Mange is a type of a skin disease that can be highly contagious both for you and your other pets. Mange is caused by parasites that live on the skin of your dog, causing wounds, hair loss, blisters, and scabs. Mange could make your dog become not so desirable. With walking dandruff and a skin disease apparent on its fur, you'll even have second thoughts about letting your dog inside the house again.
And so you should make sure that your dogs don't acquire this disease at all. There are three types of mange that could develop in dogs - Sarcoptic Mange, Demodectic Mange, and the Cheyletiella Mange. These diseases are very similar to each other, with each of them having varying effects on your pets.
Of these three, demodectic mange can be considered as the mildest type. There are instances that dogs recover from it on their own, even without medical intervention. However, it is almost impossible to tell demodectic mange from sarcoptic mange, which is a lot more severe. If left untreated, sarcoptic mange can become generalized, which means that the entire skin surface of your dog gets affected. In its early stages, sarcoptic mange is localized. Here, the foot, the ears, or the mouth of your dog is affected. Without the proper medications, the disease can easily spread throughout the body.
This only goes to tell you that you should take your pet to the veterinarian on the first signs of the disease. They will provide them with the necessary antibiotics, dips, and diet to make sure that your dog gets cured in no time. Self-medication for mange is strongly discouraged. Veterinarians need to examine your dog fully to determine what type of mange it has acquired. Only then will the necessary treatment procedure can be given. Note that the three different types of mange call for different methods of treatment.
Cheyletiella mange is the type that is most visible. This is the one commonly referred to as the walking dandruff. Like the others, the parasites that cause this disease reproduce massively on the skin, causing severe damage in the process. The mites burrow themselves into the skin of the dog to feed on the nutrients and then reproduce. A single mite on your dog's skin is enough to inflict it with the disease as it will multiply in number in a matter of a week.
However, that will only happen if your dog's immune system is weak. Dogs with strong antibodies can easily fight off the parasites that cause mange. Also, dogs that don't practice good hygiene are more prone to mange than any other pets. And so the best way to prevent mange is to make sure that your pet gets the best attention both in its hygiene and eating habits. Give your dog the most nutritious food around so its body defense system gets stronger by the day. And make sure that your dog gets its daily bath and regular grooming too in order to make sure that no mites or parasites would even attempt to come close to it.

How To Start Your Own Dog Care Home Business
Submitted by Michael
Learn how to set up a dog care business right from your home. Learn the in's and out's of what it will take to get started in this business.
Do you love dogs? If you happen to love dogs, you might want to start a dog care home business. A lot of dog owners don't have time to groom or walk their dogs that they will often rely on pet care businesses to do the job for them. Considering the number of dog owners in the country today, you will not really run-out of clients who will ask to groom and walk their dogs.
Setting up a dog bath
The first thing that you will need is a place where you can bath and groom dogs. If you live in a house with a big lawn, you may want to set up a place where you can bath dogs. Never attempt to bath dogs, especially the big once inside your house. Dogs love to wiggle around and shake their hair during baths thus creating a huge mess. Playful and rowdy big dogs are adorable but when they start running around your house in their wet coats, things will not really look very funny at all so keep them out of the house. There is no point of wasting a lot of energy cleaning after a wet dog.
When setting up a dog bath, a tub or a huge basin, a garden hose, some dog soap, shampoo, a brush and some cotton towels. You don't really need something elaborate when bathing dogs. Certainly not those pet washers that torture the poor things. Some experts believe that using pet washers where you simply put the dog inside a box and turn on the water cause emotional trauma on the dogs and must not be used at all. Well, who wouldn't be traumatized if they were put inside a closed box with water gushing all over the place? If you want to bath dogs, forget about the pet washer and do things the old fashioned way. Dogs love it when you brush their coat and massage them. Besides, bathing a dog the old fashioned way could be a lot of fun for you too.
Setting up a grooming area
For grooming dogs, select a quite area inside the house. Of course you can set-up a grooming area outside of the house if you want to but grooming a dog inside the house is lot better. First, most dogs are less playful when they are inside the house than when they are in the yard, second, there are less distractions inside the house and third, it would be easier on your part to store all your grooming stuff. For grooming dogs, you will need the following materials; a table, towels, cotton, mineral oil, eye ointment, nails clippers and a brush. You can easily get all these stuff at your favorite pet shop.

Learn How To Train Your Working Dogs Through Working Dog Videos
Have you ever heard of the phrase “working like a dog?” This is true, in such a way that dogs are very industrious workers. Canines are capable of working different kinds of jobs similar to what we do. Among the most common tasks of working dogs are making lonely individuals happy and looking after kids and families. There are also some special breeds of canines that are tasked to assist policemen. The perfect examples for these breeds are the Doberman and German shepherd. On the other hand, some dogs work as guides for the blind people. Since working dogs don’t get paid like us, we treat them with utmost care and love.
Other than canines that assist the police and blind individuals, farm dogs are also working dogs. They are the original working dogs. They are endowed with the innate instinct of herding sheep and watching over livestock. The breeds that are appropriate for this kind of job are the Border collie, Welsh Collie, Queensland Heeler, and Australian Kelpie. If you want to know how to train your dog to round up your cattle or sheep, you can watch working dog videos. These videos contain important tips and steps on training canines.
While there are farm dogs, there are also guard dogs. They are working dogs that are trained and hired to stop or attack intruders. These canines are mostly employed in homes, buildings, and fenced properties. The breeds that are suitable for this task are the American Bulldog, German shepherd, Rottweiler, and Doberman. Even if your dog knows how to bark, it does not mean that it is a guard dog. It is simply considered a watch dog, barking mainly to warn its owners.
Police dogs are working dogs that are specifically trained to assist the police in different fields or areas. There are canines that are trained to enforce public order, chasing or detaining suspects. Sniffer dogs look out for illicit substances like explosives or drugs. The Customs employ these trained canines to smell out illegal importation of plants or wildlife. Sniffer dogs are mostly beagles. Cadaver canines are working dogs that are taught to detect the smell of bodies that are decomposing. There are also tracking dogs that search for missing individuals or find suspects. Bloodhounds are perfect tracking canines.
If you want to train your dog within a certain field, you can view working dog videos. These videos will show you how to teach your canine to carry out the tasks that it is supposed to do. One website that provides working dog videos is Working Dog Videos. Other than videos, you can also watch pictures of canines on the website. You can join groups, and become a member of organizations that specialize in the training of working dogs.
You can also upload working dog videos over at the website. Or else, you can share videos of working dogs. You can make your videos available to the public, allowing you to share videos with every user that logs on to the site. You can also do this privately, sharing working dog videos only with the members of the website. If you own a training kennel, you can promote this by uploading videos of your working dogs.

Dog Health Tips
Dog Behavior
Dog behavior is molded upon a number of key factors. What breed is the dog? How was the dog trained? What were the circumstances of its upbringing? Etc. All these factors and many more can have a significant impact on dog behavior.
The most common issue relating to dog behavior is aggressive behavior. This is a problem which a lot of dog owners have to face and which often causes a lot of disturbance in the relationship between the dog and its family, especially if the family includes children. Dogs originate from the canidae family which also includes wolves, foxes, jackals, wild dogs and coyotes; therefore it is to be expected that dogs tend to demonstrate some kind of aggressive behavior. It is part of there nature. A dog’s instinct is to protect his own territory and is naturally aggressive to anything that would seek to invade or disturb that territory. It is, however possible, with the correct training, to weaken these instincts in a dog to such an extent that they are no longer displayed as one of the dogs character traits.
There are several early warning signs to help recognize potential aggressive behavior in a dog. Some symptoms are growling and aggression toward other dogs or animals, being overly protective of there food, chasing moving object aggressively, excessive barking and also snapping and biting are all symptoms that will act as a warning sign to an owner that their dog might be prone to aggressive behavior.
There are a number of things that a potential dog owner can do even before they purchase their pet to help reduce the chance of having to deal with an aggressive dog. One of these is to spend a bit of time with the litter of pups and to avoid purchasing a dog that is displaying aggressive signs even at puppy stage. Early separation from the mother should also be avoided as it has been known to develop aggressive behavior in dogs. By keeping the dog with the mother for the first eight weeks after the dog is born, you will decrease the possibility of aggressive behavior dramatically. Young dogs will often learn to become less aggressive in there behavior if they live under there mothers protection for long enough. Paying careful attention at this stage will make the job of training your dog to behave non-aggressively in your home, a lot easier.
It is important to accept, when trying to resolve the issue of aggressive dog behavior in your pet that every dog has a unique personality, which you have to embrace, respect and work with as a dog owner. Training your dog to not be aggressive is however also down to a bit of common sense. It’s is very difficult for a dog to behave and not display aggressive behavior if the dog is kept inside all day with no opportunity or space to let out some energy. Like human beings, dogs need a certain amount of stimulation and exercise in order to behave at there peak.
With all this in mind remember that your dog can be of great value, a well appreciated friend and a companion for a long period of your life. Don’t give up on your dog if you cannot seem to shake its behavioral issues straight away, these things take time. The best thing to do is to look for help and to try and help your dog to adjust its behavior to the standards expected of it so that it can have a good relationship with you and everybody else it comes into contact with.

Dog Health and Your Responsibility
By : MIKE SELVON
advantages to owning a dog. It gives you loyalty and love. Yet so many people neglect its health as a way to return that love and affection.
Preventative dog health care goes a long way to ensuring that your friend stays healthy for years to come. If you decide to get one, then do him a favor and become educated on how to protect his health.
Dog health begins the very minute you take ownership of your canine companion. Before you even think about beginning puppy training you must make sure that you know what type of medication it takes to ensure its health.
Shots such as Distemper, Rabies, and Parvo are absolutely essential to a long and healthy life for your pet. There are other medications such as heart worm medicine and flea medicines that are important as well.
If you are unsure as to what is involved in dog health, check out dog forums for answers on some common questions. The best advice before buying or getting a pet is to do a thorough research to determine if having one is right for you.
There are some questions to ask yourself before you commit to owning a dog or any animal. The first is how much time do you have to devote to the pet? Do you have enough space to accommodate one? Is its health absolutely important to you? Do you have the money to devote to puppy training and to making sure that he or she receives regular veterinarian visits to ensure its proper health?
A dog is a big responsibility. If you are unsure of any of the above questions then now is the time to carefully ponder whether or not you are ready for a pet. Dogs cost money and this responsibility lies with the pet owner.
The puppy or dog is dependent on you for everything they need. This includes their emotional well-being as well. Humans and dogs are alike in that they need love and support. You, as the owner, must be that network of love and support for them.
Dog health is important to having a fully functioning family. Dog's can bring many things to their owner. They bring love and unfailing loyalty. They deserve to have that returned to them by an owner that truly wants what is best for them.
Before you go collect your new pet, take the time to become educated. You should talk to other pet owners and then make that life altering decision.

Giving Anesthesia To An Old Dog Kills!
By : Daniel Millions
early sixties, the successful outcome of many surgical procedures for older dogs was somewhat uncertain. This was due in small part to the surgical techniques and materials employed at the time, but primarily to the types of anesthetics that were available then.
Those anesthetics were often unpredictable, sometimes produced longer periods of anesthesia than were needed for the operation, and they had to be detoxified and eliminated largely by the liver and kidneys, organs which usually are already under stress in the older dog.
These problems sometimes prompted many conscientious veterinarians to advise clients that "your dog is too old to anesthetize or be operated on." What they were really saying was that the risk from surgery and anesthesia was at least as great, or greater, than the risk from whatever was wrong with the dog.
Today that situation has radically changed. Anesthetizing a seriously ill older dog is still in the high-risk category, but the chances of a successful outcome are tremendously improved. The new types of anesthetics give excellent control over the depth and time of anesthesia and allow for rapid recovery to a normal, conscious state.
Many of the newer and much safer injectable anesthetics can be used alone for general anesthesia or, in combination with some gas anesthetics, to provide "balanced anesthesia." And certainly, the ready availability of artificial respirators which can breathe for your dog has both increased the overall safety of anesthesia as well as permitted surgery within the chest cavity for some types of cardiac and lung disorders.
No dog should be considered "too old" for surgery or anesthesia if otherwise in reasonable health. The aging kidneys and liver still must detoxify much of the anesthetic, aging lungs can make inhalant anesthetics more difficult to control, and heart disease does increase the overall danger. There still is risk, but it is a calculated risk, usually weighted on the side of success.
In today's modern veterinary hospitals and clinics, surgery is done under conditions similar to those found in human hospitals. Everything is done to keep the surgical area sterile, which includes doctors scrubbing before surgery and wearing sterile cap, mask, and gown.
All instruments, surgical drapes, and any piece of equipment that will come in contact with the patient is sterilized. The surgery is performed in a separate operating room, which is used only for sterile surgery. While each operating room will vary in the variety of equipment available, it will have whatever is needed for the particular operation being done.
If your veterinarian's hospital is not equipped to perform a particular type of surgery, he will refer you to a colleague who does have the necessary equipment, or he may do the surgery himself but in his colleague's hospital.

Protecting Your Dog From Fleas
By : Steve Searls
natural ways to protect your dog from fleas.
- Make use of vacuum cleaners to get rid of dust. Do not forget to seal the vacuum bags before you dispose them off.
- These parasites mostly breed on your dog's bed. You must clean the bedding once a week with warm soapy water.
- Use of a dog shampoo also helps in keeping the fleas away.
- Cedar made products are naturally flea repellent. Use cedar shampoo for your dog and also put cedar oil on their beds.
- A dogs dry skin attracts fleas. To keep their skin moist you should refrain from doing too much shampooing. Linatone oil in their food can also help.
- A mixture of brewer's yeast and garlic can be given in small doses to your pet. This creates a certain odor in pets, and seems to repel fleas.
- Fresh or dried pennyroyal leaves is also a natural flea repellent. Use this in carpets to avoid the abundance of fleas in your home. However, do not use it if you have small children around, as this could be toxic.
- You may also use a mixture of lavender oil and rock salt to bathe your dog and sprinkle it in the places where dogs usually prefer to rest.
- Marigolds can also be planted in your backyard as it keeps away fleas, as well as other certain kinds of bugs.
- You may also give your dog a quick bath in boiled lemon water or by using orange peels in the water. This can also be used for soaking your dogs bedding for a few hours before washing it with warm soapy water.
Remember that bathing your dog will only work if the infestation is low. In fact, these methods of keeping fleas away are only preventive in nature and wouldn't work well if the infestation level is too high.
There are number of commercially made products that are also available in the market. Let us take a look at them.
- Advantage: This is a product from Bayer having imidaclorid as the active ingredient. Advantage comes in liquid form and is applied on the dog's back. It quickly kills the fleas by breaking the nervous system of the fleas and its effect lasts for about a month. Although it is a liquid, it is safe for your dog as it does not get absorbed into its bloodstream.
Advantage also kills the flea larvae.
- K9 Advantix: Also from Bayer, it has quickly become the favorite of veterinarians and dog owners. It is for dogs only. Its active ingredients are Imidacloprid and Permethrin. It kills fleas, mosquitoes, and ticks, including deer ticks and keeps working after swimming or bathing.
- Frontline Plus: Frontline is not much different from Advantage except that it is not soluble in water. The product can be used safely for your dogs and puppies. It is very efficient in repelling the fleas and its effect can last for over four months.
It contains Fipronil as its active ingredient.
Like Advantage, Fipronil also attacks the nervous system and causes instant death in about 24 hours. In spite of being highly toxic it is not harmful to your dog, unless your dog is not allergic to fipronil.
- Biospot: Biospot is meant for dogs only. It kills up to 75% of fleas and larvae and is also effective for mosquitoes. Biospot can temporarily alter the color of your pet's hair and make it appear yellowish. It contains permethrins and IGR and is effective for about a month.
- Knockout: Another effective product that is exclusively meant for dogs. Its active ingredients include Pyriproxyfen: 21 pyridine: 0.05% cyclopropanecarboxylate: 2%. It also contains NYLAR to control the flea growth.
- Proban and Prospot: Again exclusively and widely used for dogs. However these repellents only work when the fleas bite the dog as they are effective only after they are absorbed in the bloodstreams. You also need to remember that you are injecting a small quantity of poison into your dogs body and you may not even know the side effects. Also, if your dog is allergic to the flea bites these may not be the right products.
Fleas thrive during the summer as it is their breeding season. Commercial products are effective during this time, but it is always better to consult your vet before you actually begin to using these products on your dog.

Dog Fppd Information- Good Nutrition For Dog
Dogs have evolved from carnivorous meat eaters into omnivores capable of digesting both animal and plant nutrients. They are no longer the same as their close relatives, the wolves, who are strict carnivores living on meat alone. Although dogs prefer meat-based foods, they can survive on vegetable proteins as long as other missing nutrients and amino acids are added.Your dog needs both good nutrition and a well-balanced diet for overall health and vitality. Unfortunately, many dog owners don't have enough knowledge about dog food to know what their dog should eat. Issues surrounding your dog's nutrition start the minute you bring him home as a new puppy. He will develop a definite preference for eating at a certain time each day, warm or cold food, and the taste, textures, and odors of particular kinds of food. Information about dog food tells us that an adult dog may eat a diet that is half carbohydrates. It is important to feed and water your pet on a regular basis. To prevent overheating and dehydration, water should be available to your pet at all times, especially during periods of high activity. Puppies need to eat often, while adult dogs can be fed once or twice each day. For pet owners interested in feeding their dog a homemade diet, dog food recipes are available on the internet under the dog information section. You can get Lifes Abundance pet food in the standard preparation or especially made to help take pounds off obese canines. For the most part, dried food is the most popular dog food purchase. It contains all but 10% dry product. The rest is water. It is a combination of grains, meat and its by-products, and supplemented nutrients. But Lifes Abundance is a high level dry food which does not include any of those meat by-products. On the other hand, it has a significant amount of protein, most of it meat but also grain, veggies, fruits, and seasonings. Some dogs prefer the more-appealing flavors, aromas and palatability of canned food factors that are generally far superior to dry diets. Dry foods, however, tend to be much healthier for dogs over time. Dry dog foods help eliminate tartar on a dog's teeth, and the incidence of gum disease with a dry diet is greatly reduced. Without being able to crunch and chew the harder dry foods, a dog will develop a lot of inflammation of the gums surrounding his teeth which leads to teeth receding and loosening. The bacteria associated with gum infection can actually travel through the dog's bloodstream and result in kidney and liver damage. Canned foods also contain more fat, so dogs that eat a diet high in canned food have more problems with obesity. Each specific dog has its own specific dietary requirements. This means that no two dogs will need the same amount of food to maintain good weight as well as health. Active dogs, and the breeds they come from, function with a greater need for calories than less active breeds. To this end, many dogs today are overweight. While the weight almost never shows on legs, dog's loin and lumbar areas become consumed by fat. Growing dogs and puppies do require more food per pound than adult or senior animals, but there are special foods for all stages of your pet's life, making your job as a caretaker, easier.

Natural Dog Food: Better Than Grocery Store Brands
One of the decisions you will have to make when you bring your new dog home is what kind of dog food you'll feed him. If this is your first dog, the choices that are available today can overwhelm you. Before you definitely decide to purchase a particular brand, do your homework and research the best foods. Remember that natural dog food is the optimum choice for the newest member of your family. There are generally three different types of dog foods on the market today. The most abundant brands are known as grocery store brands. These brands of dog food are found nearly everywhere, and are the cheapest of all the different dog foods available. These foods may be easy on your wallet, but they generally do not contain top of the line ingredients. The next step up from grocery store brands of dog food are known as premium brands. Remember that "healthy" doesn't always mean "low calorie." Although gourmet dog treats are made with healthful, high-quality ingredients, they often contain a lot of fat and calories. If your dog is heavy, check labels and choose treats that are lower in fat, and restrict the amount of treats to less than 10 percent of his daily diet.If you are one who enjoys baking, then you can easily pamper your dog with these types of treats, straight from your own kitchen, and at a much smaller cost then buying them. For some of these dog food recipes you probably even already have the ingredients necessary, especially if you like to make bread. It usually takes more time to bake dog biscuits than it does to bake most of our cookie recipes. That is because, even though you mix and bake it the same way as other cookies, the dough is thicker than other cookie dough. Your dog may also like Flint River Ranch dog food.

Aging Dogs - Comfort For Old Dogs
Aging dogs that are happy and comfortable are a beautiful sight. It means that someone has done an excellent job of taking care of their dog and made his life worthwhile; it says very good things about the dog's owner.
Arthritis in dogs is common as they age, they suffer from the same inconveniences that old humans do: Their joints get stiff, energy levels diminish, their hearing lessens and eyesight becomes less acute. Dog incontinence may also be a problem in old dogs. Fortunately a dog's sense of smell seems to be most resistant to aging changes.
There are many products in today's world to make your aging dog more comfortable.
Caring for Older Dogs
An Old dog appreciates a warm, comfortable bed. An orthopedic bed is a good choice, they provide maximum support and are specifically made to cushion joints and bones. For arthritic dogs this is ideal and they are available in various styles. For added comfort consider a heated dog bed, bed warmer or a heated blanket for your aging best friend. The combination of a supportive bed and heat will have a very therapeutic affect on your dog. Place the bed in an area free of drafts.
Choose food for an elderly dog carefully. Older dogs tend to put on extra pounds because of reduced activity and they burn calories less efficiently. They do best on fewer calories because they use less energy. But do not reduce the amount of food for your aging dog; just choose lower-calorie foods. Ask your veterinarian for recommendations on diet and a vitamin/mineral regimen based on your dog's health. It may make a difference to his energy level. Be sure your senior dog has plenty of water at all times. Older dogs can become dehydrated more easily then younger ones.
Exercise is important but do not over tax your best buddy. Let him smell the flowers or the "fire hydrant." Short walks several times a day, rather than one long one may be a good idea.
Regular checkups are a must for older dogs. In addition to annual vaccinations and health checkups, pay special attention to dental care. He is likely to lose some teeth and may develop bad breath. Keep his teeth clean and free of plaque build up and have his teeth routinely checked. This will decrease the chance that he will develop serious problems, such as heart disease resulting from tooth decay or gum disease.
Incontinence is sometimes a problem for old dogs. The causes are many. Do not scold him for something that is not his fault. Do see your veterinarian, it may be treatable. A temporary way of dealing with urination caused by incontinence is the use of doggy diapers and training pads to eliminate those messes in your home. Diapers for dogs are available is several sizes and styles designed for male and female dogs. Training pads may be placed under your dog to protect carpet, furniture and his bed.
Finally, good grooming for your senior dog is useful. Brush daily to keep the coat healthy and to discover any problems such as dry skin, sore spots, body odor, fleas and ticks. Check your dog's ears for odor or discharge produced by infection.
Genetics do play a part. Generally speaking; small dogs (20 lbs) live longer and don't show signs of aging until around 12 years of age. While with medium sized dogs (20 - 50 lbs), the affects of aging will be seen around 10 years. For larger breeds (90 lbs and up) aging generally begins to show around 8 years of age. There are exceptions to this, of course. With advances in geriatric veterinary care, good nutrition and excellent care for aging dogs, the process of aging may be slowed down.

Training Your Dog : Raising A Best Friend For Life
It is important to train your dog once you’ve brought it into your life. However, many dog owners incorrectly believe that having a dog should be an easy ticket for love and companionship. Nothing is ever that perfect. When you first get your pup, you will watch it go through a variety of activities you consider “bad” or “wrong.”
Your pet might soil your floor. It might jump on couches after coming in from the rain. It might bite your friend’s hand when he/she goes to pet it. Your dog might do all of these things and more. But before you throw your hands up in defeat and let your new pet become your new worst domestic nightmare, consider training your pup to adhere to your rules your way. Here are a few pointers to help you get started :
A DOG IS A DOG
You are not working with a toddler, people. When you purchase a dog and want it to follow your rules, you have to remember you are training another species of animal with different instincts than the ones we have. If you want to discipline a dog you have to treat a dog like a dog. And since their ancestors are wolves, dogs think in pack-mentality – when a dog comes into your home, it sees all those within it as part of its clan, and every clan needs a leader. So make sure your dog knows you call the shots. Don’t back down or “feel bad”. Though it might feel like you are breaking your puppy’s heart, you are actually keeping it from taking control of your home. It is your job to make it clear that you are the “alpha dog.”
START EARLY, BE CONSISTENT
The more you coddle a young pup when you first get it, the more likely it’ll walk all over you when it is older. With that said, develop rules and terms of obedience early. Fence off rooms you don’t want dogs to go in and reprimand it when it tries to get past those boundaries. If you don’t want your dog on furniture, make it clear, and don’t give any leeway. If you want your dog to follow a rule, you can never let it get away with breaking it. This is where consistency comes into play. By being consistent, you make it perfectly clear to your dog that there are certain rules it will never be allowed to break.
RESEARCH YOUR BREED
Like different people have different personalities, different dogs are more likely to act different ways. Make sure you are certain that a prospective pet’s personality will go well with yours. Don’t pick a dog with an aggressive personality if you don’t want to be butting heads all the time, and don’t pick a servile dog if you want him to protect your home.
Don’t let this article overwhelm you – having a pet is a great experience and a lot of fun. Training a dog can be hard work, but by following these guidelines you can be sure to have a best friend for life.

Taking Care Of A Small Dog Tips And Suggestions
If you're taking care of a small dog, the basics are much the same care as we would dogs of larger sizes, basics such as food, water, shelter and good deal of love. But it's easier to prepare their meals since smaller portions are required and their smaller body size makes bathing and grooming easier, and the mess to clean up is smaller as well.
Food Tips For Taking Care Of A Small Dog
Dry food with small bits are the best choice for a smaller dog, because the bits are easier for them to bite and chew. Smaller dogs seem to have some difficulty with chewing larger bits of food since they have a smaller mouth. Their teeth can also break easier since their teeth are smaller than the teeth of larger dogs.
While taking care of a small dog, be sure to give them the appropriate portion of food, since some dogs will eat whatever food is in their bowl. Over eating can distend their stomachs and cause discomfort. One cup of food will usually suffice and provide all the nutrition they require.
Taking Care Of A Small Dog - Grooming Tips
Grooming basics are pretty much the same, regardless of the size. However, grooming a smaller dog is easier since it's easier to lift or turn them around. If your dog spends lots of time resting or you carry the dog around a lot, their nails should be trimmed more frequently. Their nails will wear down if your dog is more active or runs around a lot. The nails of larger dogs tend to wear down faster since they are heavier as well.
Another tip for taking care of a small dog is daily brushing. If you brush or groom them frequently, their hair doesn't tangle as much, so it makes the job quicker and easier. The brushing routine is pretty much the same as it is for larger dogs, but you should brush more gently. When choosing a brush or comb, you should choose brushes and combs of a smaller size. In other words, choose a size that best fits the size of your dog. Also choose a brush with softer bristles since these are also more comfortable for the dog, and they don't scratch the skin as much.
All in all, we can conclude that taking care of a small dog is a little different than the care afforded for larger dogs. One would think that a small dog is not as expensive since they don't eat so much food and so on, but the owners of smaller dogs tend to pamper them more, so they might end up spending more on them.

What Humans Can Do To Help Hypoallergenic Dogs
Human beings are not the only species that can suffer from allergies. Dogs can also have allergic reactions to objects in the home, chemicals and pollutants in the air, dog food, and their own hair and dander. Finding the source of these allergies can be difficult especially if the dog is allergic to a few things. If you have a dog that suffers from allergies, you may notice that they sneeze when around harmful chemicals, vomit after eating, have skin rashes, patches of fur missing, runny nose and eyes, or they may show signs of fatigue or restlessness.
Noticing these signs is the first step to helping your dog lead a normal, healthy life. You should monitor your dog for a month to see how it reacts to its environment, its food, and its own hair and dander. Since dogs need to keep themselves clean, they may be swallowing allergens that can cause an allergic reaction. The best way to combat a hair and dander allergy is to bathe your dog once a month and brushing the dog once a day.
If your dog has a thick undercoating, it will trap allergens and dander and keep it from falling off the body. After a while the dander will build up and fall off or be swallowed. If you have allergies, this could be one of the causes. Brushing the undercoating every day will help remove excess hair before it is swallowed or falls on the floor or carpeting. This will reduce your allergy problems as well.
Sometimes chemicals in dog food can lead to food allergies. If your dog vomits at least once a day, then they may be allergic to the food they are eating. Hypoallergenic dog food is available. The food contains fewer chemicals while providing your dog with enough nutrition. Try this dog food to see if it will reduce the vomiting. Wet dog food may also help your dog digest their foods easily. If the vomiting does not stop, you should visit the vet to see if your dog has other health problems.
Dogs that are allergic to cleaning supplies, mold, and shampoo may be more difficult to treat. You can switch to natural cleaning supplies that do not contain bleach and other harmful chemicals. This may help your dog breathe a little better. You can also have your home tested for mold, which could be causing your own allergies, and you can switch dog shampoos and try one for hypoallergenic dogs. You should not wash your dog more than twice a month as you could make the dog's skin dry and flaky, which is why they are scratching and pulling more often than usual.
Taking care of a dog with allergies is easy once you have identified the problem. Asking a vet for advice is a good idea if you do not know where to begin. They will be able to ask the right questions and help you find the answers so you will be able to administer the proper treatments.

Chew Proof Dog Beds - How To Choose The Right One
Puppies just like babies go through the teething stage which means he will chew anything he can get his little teeth on including your shoes, furniture and of course his dog bed.
Chew proof dog bed
Dogs are able to give you great happiness whether you are playing with them, walking them on the street or just plain being lazy with them watching television so don’t they deserve to have something of their own.
Usually people get a dog when he is just a puppy so that you can grow with him and watch as he evolves. The first thing that we get and most of the time its before we even have the dog is the new bed so that he can be comfortable in his new home. When you pick a bed you want to buy one of the most important things to think about is whether the bed should be chewproof.
* Dog Issues
Puppies go through the stage of teething, which basically means he will chew almost anything he gets his teeth on whether they are shoes, furniture or items and especially his bed. This is the main reason why if you have a puppy, the first and certainly the most important should be a chew proof dog bed. You also have the option of looking at vinyl chew proof dog crates. These dog crates work wonders for little puppies who like to bit everything insight until they grow out of their teething stage. They also make chew proof puppy bed. Either of these will work well.
Even though your puppy gets older chewing things isn’t something that he leaves behind. Usually when you discover this its because you found something you liked in the smallest pieces possible. This is when you’ll be very happy if you still have the chew proof dog beds because most times if your puppy learned to chew his bed instead of your shoes that will more than likely last. Its fortunate that when companies make dog beds they keep in mind that dogs have this little habit and mark their items accordingly.
Besides the fact that the bed will be ruined, a good reason to get a chew proof dog bed is if the bed is heated, your dog could get injured if he chews it even if the cords are usually steel wrapped for that reason alone. A chew proof dog bed also ensures that the area stays neat and clean while still allowing the dog to chew his bed all he wants.
* Shopping for a Suitable Dog Bed
Besides keeping in mind the chew proof feature in the dog bed, you can choose any bed based on the size of your dog, its habits and personality and something that matches your home. You will find a huge variety of dog beds, mats, pillows, baskets, donuts, and orthopedic depending on the amount you want to spend.

Why Hypoallergenic Dogs Need Love
All dogs need love in order to lead happy, healthy lives. Since most breeds of hypoallergenic dogs are smaller, they will need even more love. There are several ways that you can show your dog that you love them. Spending time together, exercising, giving them healthy, nutritious food, and treating the dog with respect are all ways to show your love. In return, you will have a loyal companion that will respect and protect you, your family, and your home.
Most small breeds need to be around people in order to feel safe. Hypoallergenic breeds enjoy sitting on the couch together, curling up by their owner's feet, and following you around the house when you are home. Spending time with your dog by playing fetch, sitting on the floor, and talking to your dog are all activities that your dog wants to do with you.
Since some breeds can get into trouble when they are left alone all day, you should keep your dog in one room of your home or you should crate train your dog. Dogs that are left alone may get angry or become anxious and nervous. As a result, they will chew on furniture, walls, clothing, or they will break items and rummage through the trash. Keeping your dog in a small room will help them stay calm.
Walking your dog once or twice a day and letting it outside to play is another way to show the dog love. Exercise is a great way to bond with your dog. Not only will the dog be able to spend time with you, you and the dog will benefit from the exercise. Even if you do not have time to walk the dog everyday, you should still let the dog run around your back yard so it gets the exercise it needs.
Making sure your dog has enough food during the day is the third way that you can show your dog love. There are dog foods for different breeds and stages of life. You should research which dog food is the best by asking the vet, reading about what your dog needs, and by reading the labels on the food. As dogs age, they will need different nutrients to keep their teeth and coat healthy. It is best not to switch dog food brands often because you may upset the dog's stomach. If you want to introduce a new dog food, do it slowly until the dog gets used to it.
Respecting your hypoallergenic dog's space will result in the more respect from your dog. Make sure your dog has a clean bed or blanket and they receive enough attention during the day. If your dog is sleeping, then you should not disturb it. This will only make the dog angry. Taking care of a dog also means respecting the dog's boundaries. Some small breeds will become angry when their space in invaded during times when they do not want to be disturbed. As your dogs grows, you will learn when to socialize with the dog and when leave it alone.
